Windsor Metal Finishing was founded in 1992, and is located in central Florida just south of Orlando. The company was developed to apply liquid high performance (PVDF) fluoropolymer Kynar coatings. This coating was designed specifically for the architectural industry, with a focus on coastal areas that experience harsh environmental conditions.
Windsor is a certified applicator of high performance Kynar 500® and Hylar 5000® finishes manufactured by PPG, Sherwin Williams and Valspar Corporation, and applies their products in accordance with AAMA Specification 2605, 1998, “Superior Performing Organic Coatings on Aluminum Extrusions and Panels”. (Note; 1998 was the last version of the specification that mandated the exclusive use of amorphous chromium phosphate pretreatment)
Thermosetting acrylics and thermally accelerated air dry systems such as Coraflon and Megaflon (a 100% fluoropolymer resin manufactured by PPG) are also available through WMF. Less sophisticated Kynar colors and mica finishes are color matched and blended in-house while custom and metallic finishes are purchased directly from the coating manufacturers.
Regardless of the resin system specified, all aluminum products receive a chemical conversion coating of Amorphous Chromium Phosphate coating in accordance with ASTM 449.
Windsor has been involved with finishing prestigious projects from Alaska to the tropical climate of Hawaii or the desert kingdoms of Saudi Arabia. Windsor also participated in the coating of perforated aluminum curtainwall panels housing the LED system covering the lower 22 stories of the New World Trade Center Freedom Tower.
